Sinking Mono is genuinely formulated for any feeder and bomb work or float fishing where a sinking line provides an advantage. Due to its post-extrusion processes it can be ‘cut’ under the water’s surface with a quick flick of the rod tip. This is very useful when fishing close to islands or features or on a river with a difficult downstream wind and the line needs to be sunk. The good thing is that it doesn’t want to sink so deep like some other lines that it is a severe problem when striking.
It is a medium stretch line (slightly less than either Float or Premium) which doesn’t streeeeeetch like some and mask bites at distance. But has all the stretch needed to help with absorbing the lunges of even the biggest fish which is important when fish are under the rod top. It also doesn’t want to suddenly ‘bottom out’ but gives the angler enough ‘feel’ so the playing technique can be adjusted accordingly.
A very tough, durable and long lasting line which is harder than either FLOAT MONO or PREMIUM MONO – but remains supple. As it is a nylon it is not anywhere near as hard or as dense as Fluorocarbon. Its formulation is very well suited to the rigours of repeated casting and retrieving of feeders.
It ties up extremely well and can be used with a wide variety of common knots from Grinner, Palomar, Half Blood, Water and even Whipping, Snell and No-Knot. It has a very reliable and consistent knot strength and, with well tied knots, should easily achieve the rated B/S.
It’s parallel wound to keep the line as smooth as possible and vastly reduce the possibility of overlaps, ripples and ‘lumps and bumps’ commonly associated with standard ‘cross’ line winding processes. This then helps to keep it soft, supple and provides excellent casting performance especially at distance. This process is very slow and obviously costs more but makes for a much nicer line.

Being available in either 100m or 300m spools means you can load a shallow spool with just the required 100m and with the bigger 300m spool fill 3 x 100m or 2 x 150m reel spools. If you have bigger capacity reels and don’t want to back them out then just fill up and go ! Other 250m spools always seem like a bit of a waste where they are either not enough to fill a deep spool or can only fill 2x100m and then you end up probably wasting the 50m.
Diameters and breaking stains cover the most commonly required sizes for Feeder and bomb work as well as slightly heavier float fishing situations. However, the 4lb and 5lb sizes are not at all thick and remain soft and supple enabling good float control.
The colour is what we would call an Olive/Brown. It is relatively dark and so would lighten slightly with continual use and the bleaching effect of sunlight. This is completely normal. Unless the line has had lots and lots of use and it is time to change it anyway the knot strength remains very high despite some colour fade.
