N5 are almost in between our N4 and N6 for shape. They have a body down shape and not a basic sphere. Really ‘fat’ round bodies can hinder the strike and even bites. These have a great shape making them perfect for rivers – we’d say the all-round river pole float shape.
These have hollow tips of either 1.5mm or 2.0mm and their buoyancy helps support a wide range of baits and so anything from maggot & caster to worm. These tips also help with overshotting when slowing the floats down allowing you to ‘inch’ the bait through the peg and hold them back even more than others. The blackened stainless steel ring eye is placed over at at the bottom of the long tips providing a good strong joint – as standard side eyes can be placed under a lot of stress with larger floats – and means the line exists the float correctly.
Perfect when shotted with a bulk – Olivette – and droppers.
The 0.8mm & 1.0mm carbon stems are relatively long but that makes them excellent in deeper water and keeps them stable. Of course, you can always trim them back if you want (especially if your winders are just not quite long enough !!) just like any other float stem.
